Police Search for Missing Man in Del. River

Officials have temporarily called off the search for a missing man in the Delaware River.

Xiang He, 38, of Locust Avenue in Bensalem, was last seen on Tuesday around 11 p.m. at the boat ramp on River Road in the Torresdale Manor section of Bensalem where he kept his boat. He was reported missing Wednesday morning by his wife.

"She was under the impression that because he's an adult, she had to wait 24 hours to report him missing," said Bensalem Police Sergeant Andrew Aninsman.

His vehicle as well as his red kayak were both found at the boat dock on River Road.

Boaters typically kayak the short distance from the dock to where their larger boats are moored. Police say they know He made it to the boat on Tuesday because they found supplies on board. Neighbors also say they saw him out on the boat.

According to investigators, at some point, He returned to his mooring, tied up his boat again and then vanished during the ride back to the dock.

Marine units from the New Jersey State Police Department, Philadelphia Police Department, Union Fire Company and Croydon Fire Company searched the river on Wednesday but found nothing.

"At this point, we have not recovered or found or have any information on where Mr. He might be," Sergeant Andrew Aninsman said.

Authorities hope to continue their search Thursday morning though that depends on the weather conditions.

If you have any information on He's whereabouts, please call Bensalem Police at 215-633-3719.
