Philly Man Killed by Tour Bus Driver in NY: Cops

Police say a Florida man driving a tour bus in New York City ran over a Philadelphia man and was charged with DWI and vehicular manslaughter.

Twenty-nine-year-old Timothy White of Oak Lane Avenue was found unconscious and severely injured underneath a tour bus in Manhattan just before 10 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he died.

Police say the bus was carrying 40 passengers, but none was injured.

A preliminary investigation shows that the bus was on West 47th Street and making a turn onto 9th Avenue when it struck White.

Fifty-seven-year-old Steve Drappel of West Palm Beach, Fla., was arrested and charged. Police say he had a blood alcohol level content of .083, more than double the legal limit for commercial drivers.

Drappel has just wrapped up a tour of the city, according to police.

There was no comment from the tour bus company.
