Police Officer Shot in Upper Darby

Reports say the officer was shot twice in the back

An Upper Darby police officer was rushed to the hospital after being shot early Friday morning.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Ludlow Street and Copley Road in Upper Darby, Pa., police say. That's just about a block from SEPTA's 69th Street Terminal.

The unidentified officer was shot twice in the back, according to police reports. One of the bullets was stopped by the officer's bulletproof vest.

The suspect was also shot in the gun battle, according to reports.

Both were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment. Their conditions are currently unknown.
