A man is in the hospital after officials say he was shot by a police officer in Sharon Hill, Delaware County.
Officials say an officer performed a traffic stop on Chester Pike at Sharon Avenue on Monday. When the officer approached the suspect’s car, police say the unidentified man got out of his vehicle and tried to run away.
The suspect then allegedly took out a gun and fired at the officer. The officer then fired back at the suspect and struck him at least once, according to investigators. In all, police say about 13 shots were fired.
The unidentified suspect was taken to the hospital. Police do not believe his injuries are life-threatening. The officer was not injured in the incident.
