What began as an abduction investigation led to a drug arrest in Trenton, according to police.
On Thursday, Trenton Police were contacted by a 27-year-old man who claimed he was being held hostage at a home on the 200 block of old Rose Street.
When police arrived they say they found the 27-year-old sitting on a couch. They say another man suddenly ran upstairs. Police chased after him and tackled him. The 22-year-old man was arrested for an alleged gun violation.
Police then confronted the 27-year-old who originally contacted them. Investigators say the man was arrested after police found him in possession of marijuana and $5,000 in cash.
Police say what they initially believed was a hostage situation was likely a drug deal gone bad. Police are now searching along Reading Avenue for a white Chevy rental car that may have another victim inside.
