Police Investigate Attempted Newark Abduction

Police are investigating an attempted abduction in Newark, Del. Saturday evening.

Investigators say that a 23-year-old woman had just finished depositing her trash in a dumpster near building 71 in the Mill Creek Village apartment complex. As she turned to go back inside, a man grabbed and attempted to force her into a white pickup truck, according to investigators. The victim was able to pull away and scream, at which point the suspect fled the scene. She was uninjured.

The suspect is described as an unshaven Hispanic male, standing approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing between 130 and 140 pounds. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark sweatshirt, light stonewash blue jeans, and a backwards-facing dark hat.

The suspect's vehicle is described as an older-model white pick-up truck with a loud exhaust and Pennsylvania registration (plate numbers unknown).
