Delaware State Police have identified the Newark woman who died Sunday afternoon when her car crashed into a construction tower on State Route 1.
Authorities say 29-year-old Jennifer L. Kemp died from her injuries at the scene.
Police say it's not known why her 1997 Chrysler Sebring went off the road onto the center median and into a construction zone before colliding head-on with a steel pile driver construction tower that was being stored on its side.
Authorities say she was not wearing a seatbelt and a preliminary investigation does not indicate that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The highway was closed in both directions for 3 hours between state Route 273 and Churchmans Road.
