Police Closing In On Mom's Alleged Murderer

Police are not releasing the name of the suspect, but they do believe they know who shot a mother of five earlier this week.

Police say they are close to locating the man they believe shot and killed a mother of five in Southwest Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon.

Philadelphia Police are not releasing the name of the alleged suspect at this time.

On Wednesday, officers went door-to-door in the area of the Theodore Street shooting asking residents for information pertaining to the murder of Alisha Canty, 31.

Canty was shot and killed inside of her Honda as she waited for her boyfriend, Rashid Woods, outside of his mother's home on the 7300-block of Theodore Street.

Police spoke to Woods Wednesday and they think that he was the intended target.

Investigators told NBC10 that they believe the suspect fired at Woods and that he returned fire, although they are still trying to work out details.

Canty was hit in the chest and died.

Her five-year-old daughter's head was grazed. She was treated and released from the hospital.
