Delco Police Chase Ends in Fiery Crash

The chase ended at West South Avenue and MacDade Boulevard in Glenolden, Delaware County.

Chopper10 was over the scene of a police chase that ended in a fiery crash Wednesday morning in Delaware County.

Police say that they were chasing a black Subaru Outback, driven by a 56-year-old Delaware woman. Her identity hasn't been released.

The chase began around 7 a.m. on Elmwood Avenue, after officers were dispatched for a complaint of a reckless driver. Police say after they pulled the driver over to the side of the road, the woman drove off as the officer approached. The officer chased after the woman through Glenolden, Norwood, Secane, and back into Glenolden.

The chase ended when the woman crashed into a box truck at the intersection of West South Avenue and MacDade Boulevard resulting in a vehicle fire that injured both drivers, according to police.

The truck driver suffered a minor injury. The woman at the center of the chase was transported to the hospital, where police say she is being evaluated.

Police tell NBC10 that before the chase-ending crash, the woman struck nearly a dozen other cars.

Charges won't be announced until after an investigation.

This is the second police chase in Delaware County today. Earlier in the morning, one person was arrested after allegedly leading cops on a chase from Collingdale to Philadelphia and then to Chester where the chase ended in a crash.
