Police Arrest Man Who Slashed Mom of Three's Throat in Philadelphia

A Philadelphia man accused of slashing his girlfriend's throat during an argument while the couple's three young children were in the house has been arrested and charged with her murder.

Police said Gerrell Hall, 28, who was on the run after Brittany Lange Green's June 17 killing, was arrested on Monday. Hall, of Gross Street near Callowhill in West Philadelphia, is charged with murder and related offenses.

A 9-1-1 call the morning of the murder led police to a house on Warnock Street near Rockland, in the city's Logan section. Inside, they found 28-year-old Green, who worked as a housekeeper at a Center City hotel, suffering from several stab wounds to the neck.

The couple's three children -- ages 6, 8 and 10 -- were in the house at the time of their mother's murder, police said at the time. Hall took the children to his mother's house after the killing and then fled, investigators said. They were not harmed, but Homicide Capt. James Clark said police believe they heard their parents' argument and their mother's violent killing.

Clark described the pair's relationship as "tumultuous."

Green's mother said last week that her daughter had tried to leave the abusive relationship with Hall more than once.

"She was a loving mom and a very hard worker," Linda Green said. "She tried several times to leave her attacker, and she was just a victim of abuse."

Hall is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing July 8.
