Car Shootout in Pleasantville

Stray bullets hit cars, house and nearly people along the way

A stray bullet from a wild shootout nearly struck an innocent woman in the head as she drove down Route 9 near the Jersey Shore Wednesday afternoon.

The whole situation reads like the Wild West in cars instead of on horses. And the shootout left people injured.

People in two cars opened fire on each other around the intersection for W Park Ave and Route 9 in Pleasantville, N.J. as they chased each other down the main drag, police said.

The cars described as a brown Ford Explorer with tinted window and a small black Subaru continued to chase each other to West Park and Broad Street where more shots were exchanged, said police.

Along the way several other cars and houses were struck by bullets, authorities said.

One person was shot and another person suffered a broken leg. Both of the wounded are believed to be innocent victims.

A bullet narrowly missed the head of an unidentified woman as she drove down the street. She hyperventilated on the scene and had to be taken to a local hospital, according to authorities.

She wasn’t the only close call where an innocent person was nearly struck, said police.

Several roads in the area were shut down to traffic as police tried to sort things out.

Both vehicles involved drove off.
