Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Philly

Officials say the Delta plane had smoke in the cockpit.

Officials at Philadelphia International Airport say a plane headed to New York landed in Philadelphia because of the smell of smoke, but it landed safely and there were no injuries.

Airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica says the Delta flight from Orlando, Fla., was heading to JFK Airport with 158 passengers Tuesday night when it was diverted to Philadelphia.

She says smoke was reported in the cockpit, but the aircraft landed safely, was checked out by fire personnel and then taxied to the gate without incident.

Lupica says there were no injuries and the plane was secured.

Delta spokeswoman Leslie Parker says the passengers were put up in hotels overnight in Philadelphia.
