Robbers Beat Man, Steal His Dogs

Two men burst into a home early this morning, beat up the homeowner, robbed him and stole two dogs before leaving.

Philadelphia Police say they were called to the 6900 block of Linmore Avenue in Southwest Philly Monday around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

The suspects burst into the home, pointed a gun at the homeowner then began to beat and pistol-whip the homeowner, according to police.

The men then robbed the homeowner -- stealing cell phones and taking two of his adult pit bulls -- before fleeing the scene, police said.

The homeowner was checked out and is expected to be OK.

His dogs, however, remain missing along with the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact Philadelphia Police.

This was one of a handful of violent incidents overnight in the city including a deadly shooting outside an elementary school and two other shootings that left men in critical condition.
