A defendant charged in a double slaying inside a trendy Philadelphia apartment building says he was pressured into a confession by detectives after a case of mistaken identity involving surveillance footage.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports 30-year-old Antonio Wright testified during a motion hearing Tuesday that he signed a confession but thought it would be thrown out in court.
Wright is charged in the 2009 killings of 34-year-old Rian Thal and 40-year-old Timothy Gilmore at the just-opened Piazza at Schmidts in the Northern Liberties neighborhood.
Investigators said they seized four kilograms of cocaine and more than $100,000 from Thal's apartment after the killings.
One co-defendant pleaded guilty to the same charge on Monday and was sentenced to life in prison. Three others also face trial with Wright.
