Despite Online Glitch, Fans Catch Phillies Tickets

Phans are having problem buying tickets online

Want to see the National Champs this season -- good luck.

Single game Phillies tickets went on sale Thursday morning -- but actually purchasing them proved a difficult task for some.

Some fans on Phillies.com couldn't get past this error message:

Fans were blowing up Twitter and the team's Facebook page with complaints about the online wait to buy tickets.

"I have been waiting for 34 minutes with the queue screen. All the good tickets will be gone!" says Susie via Facebook.

We reached out to the Phillies and they explained that the problems were due to volume. The same thing happened the last few years and the best bet to grab tickets was to call the ticket office, 215-463-1000, or try again online, according to the team.

Despite the issues more than 45,000 tickets were sold Thursday, the Phillies said.

β€œOur fans continue to show their passion for Phillies baseball,” said John Weber, Phillies Vice President of Sales and Ticket Operations. β€œLast season, we had tremendous support with 3.6 million tickets sold, which included 73 sellouts at Citizens Bank Park. Our fans’ support has continued throughout the off-season -- and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the ballpark during Opening Week.”

Tickets for most games (sorry no Red Sox series tickets) went on sale online Thursday at Phillies.com. Some intriguing home series up for grabs included the New York Mets (April 30 to May 2, Aug. 6 to 8 and Sept. 24 to 26), St. Louis Cardinals (May 3 to 6 -- please keep the laser pointer at home this time) and the L.A. Dodgers (Aug. 10 to 12).

Of course some of the bigger draws would likely be giveaway nights. Some of the highlights to be given to all fans include a Roy Halladay bobble figurine (May 18 vs. Pittsburgh) and a Carlos Ruiz bobble figurine (August 24 vs. Houston).

And, as always the kids can grab some goodies including a Ryan Howard baseball and collectible tin (April 17 vs. Florida), a Phanatic T-shirt (April 18 vs. Florida) and a Shane Victorino foam finger (June 6 vs. San Diego).

There are many more promotions throughout the season including the always popular Hatfield dollar dogs nights. For the full promotional schedule, click here.
