Philly Police Investigate Pizza Shop Robberies

In the wake of Friday’s arrest of a duo that broke into a pizza shop, police are searching for another alleged robber with a knack for targeting pizzerias.

Police are investigating robberies at three Philadelphia pizza shops and say that one man may be connected to all of them.

The first robbery occurred on July 29 at 8 p.m. at the Holiday Express Pizza Store on Stenton Avenue. Police say that a man armed with a black and silver handgun walked in and demanded money from the employee. He then allegedly took around $500 in cash and put it inside a paper bag before fleeing on foot.

The man is described as a black male between 19 and 23 years of age, standing between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-7 and weighing 120 to 135 pounds. A witness also said that he had a 6-inch scar on his left forearm. Police say the man wore a black ski mask, white t-shirt and baseball-type shorts.

On July 31, at 9:40 p.m., police say that a man entered the Papa John’s on Wadsworth Avenue and pointed a black and silver handgun at the employee. He then allegedly took $344 in cash. Like the first robbery, police say the suspect put the money inside a paper bag before fleeing on foot.

The suspect in that incident is described as a black male standing at 5-foot-8 with a thin build. Police say he was wearing a black ski mask, white t-shirt and black pants.

On August 1, police say that a man entered the Holiday Express Pizza store that was robbed on July 29 and asked an employee numerous questions about the robbery. The employee told police that he saw a scar on the man’s arm that resembled the scar on the arm of the robbery suspect from the first incident.

Finally on August 3 at 7 p.m., police say that a man entered Mom’s Pizza on East Willow Grove Avenue with a black and silver handgun. The man allegedly demanded money from the employee and stole $190 in cash. Just like the first two robberies, police say the man put the cash in a paper bag and fled the scene on foot. The suspect’s description in this incident is slightly different from the other two however. He is described as a black male standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 170 pounds.

While police believe that it’s a strong possibility, it’s unconfirmed whether one person is responsible for all three robberies.
