Philly Father, Soldier Killed by Bomb in Afghanistan

26-year-old 1st Lt. Demetrius M. Frison died Tuesday when his unit was attacked. He leaves behind a wife and daughter.

The Army says a Fort Knox soldier from Pennsylvania has been killed in Afghanistan.

A statement on Thursday says 26-year-old 1st Lt. Demetrius M. Frison of Lancaster, Pa., died Tuesday in Khowst Province of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised
explosive device. The Army says it was his first deployment to Afghanistan.

Frison began his military service in April 2009 and arrived at Fort Knox in October 2010.

He leaves behind a six-month-old son and his wife, whom he's known since middle school, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer
