Philly Cops to Change Plea in Heroin-Stealing Plot

Two former Philadelphia police officers charged in a plot to steal heroin from a drug dealer are due in court for change-of-plea hearings.

Robert Snyder and James Venziale are scheduled to appear in federal court on Monday. Prosecutors say they and a third former officer agreed to help two other men rip off a heroin supplier by
seizing the drugs in a staged traffic stop in return for a cut of the profits.

All three officers have been fired from the department.

An attorney for Snyder tells the Philadelphia Daily News his client will plead guilty but declined to comment further. Venziale's attorney did not immediately return a phone message left by the Associated Press early Monday.
