Philadelphia police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who fled the scene after striking a pedestrian and leaving him for dead.
The incident happened about 3 a.m. Friday at the intersection of 5th Street and Hunting Park Avenue in North Philadelphia.
According to investigators, several people called 911 after seeing a man lying unconscious on the road.
The 45-year-old man was rushed to Temple University Hospital in critical condition with severe injuries, including a fractured femur and pelvis. He also has injuries to his head and face. The man did not regain consciousness even after arriving at the hospital, police said.
Police said they did find some evidence at the scene.
“We did find some small, fresh broken lenses from the vehicle. So that’s possibly evidence of a vehicle striking this 45-year-old male,” Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10.
The intersection was closed for several hours, but it has since reopened.
