Philadelphia Abduction Suspect to Be Extradited to Virginia to Face Charges

A Maryland judge has ordered a suspect in the abduction of a Philadelphia woman to be extradited to Virginia, where he faces outstanding charges.

Delvin Barnes appeared by video from a suburban Baltimore jail for a hearing Thursday afternoon. He wore an orange jail jumpsuit and answered the judge's questions with "Yes, sir" and "No, sir." He did not have an attorney with him. A prosecutor Barnes had signed the extradition paperwork. The judge ordered Barnes held without bail and gave the commonwealth of Virginia five days to pick him up.

Federal Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents found Barnes on Wednesday in Jessup and freed Carlesha Freeland-Gaither.

Barnes is charged with being a fugitive from justice in Virginia, where he is wanted for attempted murder, assault and malicious injury.
