Firefighters had to set up portable pools so they could have a steady supply of water to fight the fire since the street lacked fire hydrants

A woman is dead after an fire tore through a home in a Chester County neighborhood, county officials said.

Flames were first spotted in the home along the 1300 block of Birmingham Road in Birmingham Township around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A lack of fire hydrants in the neighborhood forced firefighters to set up portable pools from which to pump water to knock back the blaze.
