Couple Killed in Bucks County House Fire

Fire tore through a Bucks County home Tuesday night leaving a husband and his wife dead.

The fire began around 8:30 p.m. at a home on the 300 block of North Elmwood Avenue in Middletown Township, Pa. Firefighters placed the flames under control about 90 minutes later.

Middletown Township Police say a 66-year-old man and his 65-year-old wife who lived inside the home. One died at the scene, the other died later at the hospital.

Investigators did not immediately release the dead couple's identities pending family notification.

Officials say the fire began in the basement of the home but they are still investigating the exact cause.

The fire marshal is expected to return to the scene Wednesday morning to try and uncover more clues.
