Gov. Tom Wolf says Pennsylvania is out of options with the Federal Emergency Management Agency after it denied disaster aid a second time for a March storm that dropped 30-plus inches of snow on parts of northeastern Pennsylvania.
Wolf's office said Tuesday that FEMA's acting administrator, Robert Fenton, wrote to deny the state's appeal. Fenton had told Wolf's office last month that the damage wasn't beyond the capability of the state and local authorities.
Wolf calls it unfortunate that the people of northeastern Pennsylvania will suffer the financial impact of this decision.
U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta had urged Wolf to make the original request for aid, even though the costs didn't exceed the state's per-capita threshold.
