Crash Closes Pennsylvania Turnpike in Montgomery County

2 hurt in wreck that closes eastbound Pennsylvania Turnpike between interchanges 333 and 339.

A crash where a sedan wound up wedged under a tractor-trailer shut down the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Montgomery County Thursday morning. The crash left two people hurt.

The wreck closed the eastbound lanes of the turnpike near the Norristown Interchange (Exit 333) during the morning rush.

The highway was blocked in both directions between Norristown and the Fort Washington Interchange (Exit 339) around 8:40 a.m. so that a medical helicopter could land to transport two people from the wreckage.

As crews continued to clear the scene, one eastbound lane slowly got by on the right shoulder as westbound traffic moved.

The road was reopened around 9:10 a.m. but slowdowns remained.

No word yet on the extent of injuries to the two people hurt.
