Pennsylvania Tree Trimmer Killed in Bucket Lift Collapse

A central Pennsylvania tree trimmer died after being hit by a collapsing bucket lift being used by a co-worker.

The Cumberland County coroner's office said 53-year-old Michael Shaud, of Middletown, was killed when he was hit by the falling bucket. Shaud was collecting debris on the ground when the lift collapsed onto him.

Police said another employee in the bucket fell out when it collapsed and was taken to Hershey Medical Center, where his name and condition were not immediately available.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was investigating, along with police in Camp Hill, where the incident happened about 10 a.m. Thursday.

Shaud worked for Shull's Tree Service in Middletown, where a woman who answered the phone Friday said officials weren't commenting.
