Pennsylvania Man Seeks to Withdraw Gun Plea in Halloween Slaying

A man who pleaded guilty to firearm charges in connection with events at a central Pennsylvania nightclub on Halloween in 2013 that killed a man is seeking to withdraw the pleas.

The (Altoona) Mirror reports that decision by 25-year-old Brandon Midder of Altoona came Monday in Blair County Court after the defendant learned that he faced more prison time than he anticipated.

Judge Elizabeth Doyle deferred a decision, saying she wanted a full airing of the issue. If she allows the plea to be withdrawn, four other firearms counts would be reinstated.

Midder still faces allegations that he assaulted 24-year-old Willie Solomon, who was shot to death at Choices Nightclub in Altoona. Twenty-one-year-old Hugo Baez was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in the slaying.
