An escaped Pennsylvania inmate accused of killing an acquaintance while on the run has been ordered held for trial on criminal homicide and other charges.
A judge announced the decision Wednesday at the conclusion of 38-year-old Robert Crissman's preliminary hearing.
Five witnesses testified, including 55-year-old victim Tammy Long's boyfriend. She was discovered beaten and strangled at a nearby home after Crissman fled the Armstrong County Jail.
Authorities say Crissman escaped July 30 while delivering breakfast to other inmates as part of a work-release program at the jail in Kittanning, about 44 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
An investigator has been hired to review that program and other aspects of the escape.
Crissman had been jailed for violating his probation on a drug case. He didn't have a record for violent crimes.
