Three Teenage Girls Struck After Delaware Car Crash, Sustain Minor Injuries

Delaware State Police say three girls were hit by a car forced onto the sidewalk after colliding.

It happened about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in Newark. Troopers say 21-year-old Cristian Zavala-Vazquez of Newark was driving on Kirkwood Highway when he tried to make a left turn.

Police say Zavala-Vazquez's vehicle drove into the path of a car driven by 88-year-old Ahmad Amini of Hockessin.

Authorities say when the two vehicles collided, one was forced onto the sidewalk and hit three girls, ages 13 and 15.

Amini and the three girls were taken to Christiana Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Zavala-Vazquez was not injured in the crash. He was cited by troopers with inattentive driving.
