Young Nurse From Pottstown Vanishes After Night Out With Roommates

Paul Kochu was enjoying a night at the bar last week watching Monday Night Football with his roommates. No one has seen the Pottstown native since.

Around midnight, Kochu went back to his apartment in Pittsburgh after cutting his hand. His two roommates returned home to help the 22-year-old, then left to grab food at a local McDonald's.

When they returned, Paul had vanished.

According to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Missing Persons Unit, Kochu, 22, was last seen at his South Side residence around 1:30 a.m. on December 16th.

Kochu's family is offering a $7,500 award for any information that leads to finding him.

A team searched the water near Riverfront Park Friday afternoon for nearly an hour, but divers came up empty-handed.

Paul, who graduated from Duquesne University, works as a nurse at Allegheny General Hospital.

His family has traveled from Pottstown to the Pittsburgh area to search for their son.

"We're keeping our hopes alive that he's going to be OK,” Paul Kochu’s mother told WPXI.

Paul’s wallet and keys were gone from the apartment, according to his father Jack Kochu. But Paul's white Volvo is still parked outside his home.

"It’s extremely upsetting that no one has seen him, but it was in the middle of the night. There has not been any leads and very few clues,” Jack Kochu said.

He added he normally talks to Paul on a daily basis and that his son is very responsible.

Paul Kochu is 6 feet tall and weighs around 180 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding Kochu’s disappearance is asked to contact Pittsburgh Police at 911 or the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Missing Persons Office at 412-323-7141.
