Patient Flees During Ambulance Ride

A 22-year-old man bolted from an ambulance while being transported to a hospital Wednesday.

Police say they went to the home of Colby Stitcher in Red Hill - a suburb about 40 miles northwest of Philadelphia - in the early morning hours on New Year's Day to investigate reports of a disturbance.

Authorities say they placed Stitcher in an ambulance for transport to a Lehigh Valley hospital for evaulation, but during the ride the 22-year-old man escaped from the vehicle.

He jumped out  of the medic unit around 1004 Gravel Pike, Hereford near the elementary school and ran, according to officials.

Police are concerned for his safety and are searching for Stitcher by air and ground.

He had not been charged with any crime prior to his escape.
