Pa. Woman Sentenced to Life in Prison for Love Triangle Murder

The Daily Local News of West Chester says 37-year-old Morgan Mengel of West Chester pleaded guilty Tuesday in Chester County Court to first-degree murder, conspiracy and related charges in the June 2010 death of Kevin Mengel.

A suburban Philadelphia woman has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to having plotted her husband's death more than 2 years ago.

The Daily Local News of West Chester says 37-year-old Morgan Mengel of West Chester pleaded guilty Tuesday in Chester County Court to first-degree murder, conspiracy and related charges in the June 2010 death of Kevin Mengel.

Prosecutors said her lover beat the victim to death with a shovel.

Mengel said she was pleading guilty because she wanted the healing process to begin.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Patrick Carmody said he wasn't surprised because the evidence was "overwhelming."

He took issue with the portrayal of the case as a love triangle, saying "you can't have a love triangle if the woman only loves herself."
