A Pennsylvania woman is facing 74 animal cruelty charges after authorities discovered 107 animals, including pigeons, cats, dogs and chickens, living in a shed on her Northampton County property.
Police cited 47-year-old Roseanne Yost, of Upper Nazareth Township, for unsanitary confinement of more than 100 animals and failure to provide veterinary care.
The Upper Nazareth Township Police Department and the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) began investigating Yost's property along Daniels Road over the summer, according to officials.
Investigators discovered the 107 animals Aug. 27, and spent several hours removing them from the shed and then transporting them to PSPCA headquarters in Philadelphia, authorities said.
Two pigeons were dead when they arrived at the shelter and approximately seven other animals were euthanized because of their medical conditions, according to the PSPCA.
Officials said they placed nearly all of the remaining animals -- with the exception of a few cats who are still recovering from illnesses -- in permanent homes.
