Pa. Republican Leaders Gather to Endorse Corbett

Pennsylvania's Republican State Committee is gathering in Hershey to endorse Gov. Tom Corbett for a second term.

At a time when Corbett is struggling to improve his job approval rating and taking heat from conservatives who feel he's not sensitive to their concerns, the mood was upbeat before Saturday's meeting. Corbett is unopposed for the endorsement.

Corbett introduced former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, the keynote speaker, at Friday night's annual Lincoln Day Dinner, and is expected to make a speech during the endorsement meeting. Other scheduled speakers include Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley and U.S. Rep. Tom Marino.

Corbett faces a potential challenge in the May 20 primary from Bob Guzzardi, a conservative activist from the Philadelphia suburbs.

Eight Democrats are competing for their party's nomination.
