Pa. Democratic Hopefuls Show Up for Forum

Six of eight prospective Democratic candidates vying for the party's nomination to challenge Gov. Tom Corbett's re-election bid are making their pitches to party activists at Lehigh University.

The Wednesday evening forum is sponsored by area Democratic Party organizations, as well as Service Employees International Union Local 668. More than 100 people showed up to Iacocca Hall.

Appearing are businessman and former state Revenue Secretary Tom Wolf, former state environmental protection secretaries John Hanger and Katie McGinty, Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski, Lebanon County Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz and Pentecostal minister Max Myers.

They are answering questions on education, environment, equal rights, abortion rights, labor and aging.

Two other candidates in the May 20 primary, state Treasurer Rob McCord and U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz, didn't attend.

Candidate forums are also scheduled for Friday in Harrisburg and Sunday in Pittsburgh.
