PSU Students to Dance Through the Weekend

More than 700 Penn State students are getting ready to spend the weekend awake and dancing the night away in a 46-hour dance marathon that is part of the university's annual THON fundraising event.

The students will start dancing, and remaining upright, Friday on the floor of the school's Bryce Jordan Center.

The event raises money for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. About 15,000 students raise money for the marathon and help organize it year round.

The event has raised more than $101 million since 1977. Last year, students raised a record-breaking $12.37 million, a total they're hoping to shatter this year. The marathon ends Sunday at 4 p.m.
