PSU Student Arrested for Robbery, HIV Threat: Cops

21-year-old Shivi Neil, a student at Penn State Berks, was arrested for allegedly robbing a pharmacy and threatening to stab workers with an HIV-infected needle.

Police arrested a college student accused of robbing a Wyomissing pharmacy while threatening to stab workers with an HIV-infected needle.

Last Sunday, police say Shivi Neil, 21, of Pottstown entered the Rite-Aid on State Hill Road and demanded pain killers from the clerk.

Investigators say Neil threatened to stab the clerk with a syringe infected with the HIV virus though he displayed no weapon or needle while making the threat. Clerks handed Neil a bottle of pain pills and he ran off, according to police.

Police say Neil is currently a student at Penn State Berks, a commonwealth campus of Pennsylvania State University.

On Friday at noon, Neil was taken into custody by Wyomissing Police with help from the Penn State Berks Police. Neil was very cooperative at the time of his arrest, according to investigators. He is currently being interviewed by police for similar robberies in other areas, including Lower Pottsgrove.
