The 9-year-old Phillies fan struck by an accused hit-and-run driver in San Francisco returned home on Saturday.
A crowd of neighbors and well-wishers welcomed Ryan White back to his home in Lower Makefield Township, after he spent more than a month hospitalized.
"I was really surprised there was that many," White said.
Police said a Toyota Tundra driving the wrong way on a San Francisco street hit White on August 4, after a game between the Phillies and the Giants. White was walking home with his family to their hotel room at the time of the accident.
The driver was later caught and has been charged with driving under the influence and felony hit and run.
White arrived at the hospital in San Francisco in critical condition, having suffered a traumatic brain injury, damage to his liver, a broken pelvis and a broken leg. After two weeks of treatment, White was transported to Philadelphia via airplane.
"I only remember the game," he said at his homecoming Saturday. "I don't remember the accident."
He was discharged from Children's Hospital in Philadelphia on Saturday morning, and arrived home decked out in Phillies clothing. His parents said he'll receive home-schooling while he continues to recover, but they hope he'll be able to return some time this fall.

"It hurts, but then I think about all my friends," White said about his injuries. "And I get happy, and it doesn't hurt anymore."
