Old Man Strikes Boy With Truck

A 10-year-old boy was struck and critically injured by a truck near Newportville on Friday evening.

Authorities said the driver of the truck was an 81-year-old man from northern Philadelphia.

According to Bensalem police, the boy, whose name has not been released, hopped a fence on Gibson road near Terry's trailer park.  He then ran across the roadway.

A Ford F-150 driven by James McKay was traveling east on Gibson Road while the boy was darting across.  McKay's truck hit the boy in the middle of the roadway there.

The boy has been transported to St. Christopher's for Children hospital, where he is being treated for critical injuries.  He is in stable condition.

Bensalem police said that there was no preliminary indication of drugs or alcohol factoring into the crash.
