Authorities in New Castle County say a man was found dead at the scene of a fire in Claymont and a second person has been taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Officials say they were called to the Harbor House Apartments in the 200 block of Harbor Drive around 2:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a fire. When they arrived, they found heavy fire on the third floor of the building. One person was found dead, and a 72-year-old man was rescued and treated for smoke inhalation and high carbon monoxide levels. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Officials say all other occupants escaped. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
