An Absecon Police Officer was responding to a call when he was involved in an accident late Monday night, according to investigators.
Authorities say Ptl. Andrew Southrey, age 29, and a truck driven by Robert Martin, 71, of Absecon collided just before 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 9 and Meadowview Avenue.
Martin's vehicle overturned and Southrey's police cruiser went off the road and hit a telephone pole.
Power was knocked out to the south side of Absecon for most of the night, but was fully restored by 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, according to Atlantic City Electric.
Southrey was treated and released from the hospital. Martin was also hospitalized with unknown injuries.
The accident is under investigation.
