Officials have apologized for moving the bronze bust of the first black member of a New Jersey governor's cabinet from an Atlantic City library.
The Press of Atlantic City reports Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian and Atlantic County Freeholder Alex Marino apologized to the city's NAACP chapter on Monday night.
Marino directed moving the bust of Horace Bryant Jr. from the Carnegie Library to the arts Garage in June to bring more attention to it. But the freeholder told the group he should have talked to more community members first.
NAACP member Linda Steel says it's about communication and making sure the Bryant sculpture is placed in a respectful location.
The bust was returned to the Carnegie on Friday.
