A manhunt is under way for a suspect police say stole a police vehicle in New Jersey and fled over the George Washington Bridge into upper Manhattan.

Law enforcement says the suspect stole the unmarked police car from the parking lot of the Skyview Motel in Fort Lee Friday morning and fled over the bridge.

New York Police Department recovered the stolen gray four-door Audi on 125th Street and Riverside Drive in Harlem around 10:45 a.m., according to NBC New York.

Police reportedly fired shots at the fleeing driver and chased him across the bridge.

Heavily armed officers are searching for the suspect, and K-9 units have reportedly led police to a park in upper Manhattan where the suspect may have fled on foot.
