Officer Shoots Armed Man in South Philly: Police

Police say the armed man struggled with officers before he was shot

An armed man was shot by Philadelphia Police Tuesday evening at 23rd and Mifflin in South Philadelphia.

Police say they were called to the neighborhood just after 5:00 p.m. for a report of a man with a gun. When officers arrived on scene, they say the man took off running.

Police chased him down and say he struggled with officers. That's when one officer opened fire, hitting the man twice in the leg.

The man is in stable condition. No officers were injured.

Police did recover the man's gun from the scene.
