Authorities in southern New Jersey say a pickup truck collided with a police cruiser responding to an emergency call, injuring an officer.
Gloucester County prosecutors say the crash occurred around 1 a.m. Friday in Elk Township. The say special township officer Jacob Custis was making a U-turn while headed to a call of an intoxicated person in the street when his cruiser was struck broadside by a truck.
Custis was briefly hospitalized and released after an examination. The pickup driver was not injured.
The prosecutor's office says a breath test indicates that alcohol might have been a factor in the crash.
They say charges are pending against the truck driver.
