Officer's Car Rammed by Robbery Suspect

An Abington Township police officer was injured in a car crash while pursuing a man suspected of robbing a PNC Bank in Jenkintown.

An Abington Township police officer was injured while pursuing a bank robbery suspect early Friday afternoon. Investigators told NBC10 the suspect walked into the PNC Bank on the 100 block of Old York Road in Jenkintown and demanded money.

The suspect took off in a car and was spotted by an Abington Township police officer who started following the suspect, according to investigators.

Police told NBC10's Deanna Durante that the chase moved into Philadelphia and there were a few crashes along the way.

The Abington Township police car was rammed by the suspect's vehicle on Roosevelt Boulevard near Fox Street and an officer was injured, said police.

The suspect's vehicle was damaged and the chase slowed, according to police.

The suspect crashed his vehicle again and was taken into custody at 17th and Oxford in North Philadelphia.

The injured officer is being treated at Hahnemann University Hospital. There's no word on his condition.
