The Philadelphia Police didn’t find him. The FBI didn’t find him. But an OFF-duty SEPTA police officer did.
Daniel P. Magee, inked with a shamrock and Celtic cross on his arms, was wanted in a string of bank heists along Market Street in Center City.
Magee is believed to have robbed the Wachovia Bank branch at 1700 Market Street on Thursday.
He is already convicted of robbing the PNC Bank on 18th and Market Streets on Monday, November 3 and another PNC branch at 1600 Market Street on Friday, October 17.
Local and government officials have searched high and low for Magee since he walked into the first Center City bank and demanded money.
Off-duty SEPTA cop John Rodriguez recognized the suspect while walking near the intersection of Front and Dauphin Streets in Kensington Friday, according to SEPTA Police.
Officer Rodriguez, a 5-year veteran of the SEPTA Police force, followed Magee onto the platform of the York-Dauphin El station where he confronted the suspect. Magee surrendered without a fight.

The FBI was grateful for Officer Rodriguez’s quick actions.
"Officer Rodriguez helped us get a dangerous individual off of the streets and did so without endangering the welfare of the community," said FBI Spokesman and Special Agent J.J. Klaver. "He did a great job."
