Occupy Homeless Forced Out of Port Richmond

PennDOT orders tents to be taken down and area cleared out because of repair work

State police and PennDOT ordered dozens of homeless men and women to take down their tents at Cumberland and Richmond Streets on Monday.

The group has been set up at the location, behind the Port Richmond mall, since they were forced out of Dilworth Plaza last week.

The land is owned by PennDOT.

The agency posted signs last Friday that the homeless would need to leave by Monday.

PennDOT says it needs to do repair work in the area.
