Robber Tells Armed Accomplice to ‘Shoot:' Philadelphia Police

Shoot him anyway.

That’s what police say one of two armed robbers said to his accomplice during a violent attack that left the victim in critical condition.

The shooting played out along 2nd Street near 66th Avenue in Philadelphia’s East Oak Lane neighborhood just before 5 a.m. Monday.

The armed suspects approached the victim, a man in his 20s, and announced a robbery, investigators said.

“He states that he was on 2nd Street… when two males approached him, announced a robbery and for some reason one of the suspects said to the other male, ‘shoot him,’” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

A bullet struck the victim in the back. Medics rushed him to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. Small said police expect the victim to survive.

After opening fire, the suspects ran off, police said.

Small said police didn’t know if the suspects took anything.

Because the shooting happened along a residential block, investigators didn’t find any surveillance video, Small said.
