"I just said it's a wonder that the only people he's going after are Caucasians," Santaguida said, according to the Daily News. "There's a lot of other people who owe more money than me who are African American."
And Nutter agreed he does have color in mind when it comes to tax-deadbeats:
"When it comes to delinquent taxes, the only color I care about is green – the color of money. Every Philadelphian should pay their taxes."
Santaguida faced a sheriff’s sale Thursday since he owes the city more than $154,000 in back taxes. But, he avoided that sale by putting down $20,000 toward his debt and agreed to pay a $108,000 tax bill, the paper reported.
He must pay the remaining $88,000 by May 1.
Santaguida was outed as a tax-deadbeat along with attorneys Robert Gamburg and his father Jerome Gamburg as tax-deadbeats. Robert confronted Nutter last month after the mayor drew attention to his tax-averting ways during a press conference.
