Federal officials have cited a southern New Jersey nursing home for several violations that could have affected the health and well-being of its employees.
The U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced its findings Tuesday. The citations against Carneys Point Care Center stem from an OSHA inspection that was conducted in May.
Among the violations cited were laundry department workers being exposed to excessive levels of heat; failure to ensure workers wore appropriate eye protection and exposed wires from an industrial washer. Overall, the center could face nearly $50,000 in fines for the violations.
Once it formally receives details on the citation, the center has 15 business days to comply with or contest the citations. Center administrators were not available for comment Tuesday.
